Jonathan Duffie, President

Jonathan C. Duffie serves as President of and is the majority stockholder of Ralph J. Duffie, Inc. He has been affiliated with the company for over 40 years. Mr. Duffie started with the company on the ground floor, being first employed as a laborer, then as a project foreman, then as construction superintendent before moving into the front office and taking over the company reins in the late 1980’s. 

Mr. Duffie has garnered a wide range of experience during this time. This experience includes: 

  • Lot development; 
  • Single Family Home Construction in several developments, Avenel Gardens Townhomes  in Silver Spring, MD, Williamsburg Village in Olney,  MD and Mercy Hollow in Potomac, MD; 
  • Office construction including Capital Beltway Building One, Capital Beltway Building Two, & 10001 New Hampshire Avenue located @ New Hampshire Avenue and the Capital Beltway in Silver Spring, Md.); 
  • Shopping Center Construction (The Hillandale Shopping Center, a 200,000 square foot shopping center in Silver Spring, MD);  and, 
  • Apartment Construction including  Montgomery White Oak Apartments (592 units), Portabello II Apartments (102 units), Montgomery Paint Branch Apartments (529 units), Yorkshire Apartments (326 units), Montgomery Club Apartments (269 units), Saratoga Court Apartments (102 units) and Regatta Bay Apartments (245 Units). 

Mr. Duffie is the broker of record for Duffie, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Ralph J. Duffie, Inc. He is a licensed member of the Maryland Association of Realtors. Finally, Mr. Duffie is licensed as a builder in the state of Maryland and he is a member of the National Association of Homebuilders.


Jeremy Duffie, Vice President

Jeremy Duffie represents the third generation of the Duffie family now working with Ralph J. Duffie, Inc and The Duffie Companies.  Jeremy has worked in the family business for as long as he can remember. Working at every opportunity, Jeremy was already an experienced equipment operator by the time he graduated high school. Following graduation from Southern Methodist University in Dallas Texas with a degree in Business Administration, Jeremy returned to the family business. 

As Vice President of Construction Jeremy has been actively involved in the planning and construction numerous buildings across a variety of project types including:

  • Regatta Bay Apartments  in Annapolis MD.
  • Stone Point Apartments in Annapolis MD. 
  • 10001 New Hampshire Avenue (commercial office)  in Silver Spring, MD.
  • Randolph Plaza (Mixed Use Office/Retail) in Colesville, MD.
  • Beltsille Yard (Industrial) in Beltsville, MD.
  •  East of Market Apartments in Frederick MD.
  • Home2 Suites by Hilton in Silver Spring, MD.
  • The renovation of over 2,500 apartment homes.

Additionally,  Jeremy has adeptly managed growth in the areas of general repairs and maintenance, renovation, landscaping, painting, and cleaning. Jeremy’s hands on approach to corporate management makes The Duffie Companies a well rounded and capable multifamily contractor able to handle any repair, maintenance, or renovation issue that may arise.

Shane Pollin, Vice President Development

Shane Pollin joined The Duffie Companies in 2003 and has worked in real estate ventures in the Washington Metropolitan area for almost 20 years  Shane holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN and a Juris Doctorate from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA.  

Shane is responsible for the Development activities of The Duffie Companies and handles a broad range of transactional and operational matters.  Shane is responsible for negotiating project acquisitions and navigating projects through the challenging entitlement processes present in the jurisdictions in which the companies operate. Shane is licensed to practice law in the State of Maryland.  Shane excels at fostering strong relationships with both the jurisdictions and communities and has been the driving force behind incorporating sustainable building practices into the firm’s operations.

Additionally, Shane has been the  driving force behind the Duffie Companies’ move toward high performance green  building. He is a LEED accredited professional with a broad range  of green building experience across a variety of project types.   Shane's portfolio includes:

  • 10001  New Hampshire Avenue; a 50,000 s.f. office building certified as both LEED  Core and Shell Gold and LEED for Commercial Interiors Gold
  • Randolph Plaza, the LEED Platinum rated (CS Office, CS Retail, & CI Office) Duffie Headquarters,  
  • East of Market  Apartments, the City of Frederick Maryland’s first LEED for Homes Gold and  Energy Star certified apartments. 
  • Home2Suites by Hilton Silver Spring which is targeting LEED NC  Platinum.  

Shane is currently leading The Duffie Companies in partnership with the  Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County on Hillandale  Gateway in Silver Spring, MD and Wheaton Gateway in Wheaton MD.  These ground breaking mixed use, mixed income projects are in pursuit of Passive House certification.  

Shane Pollin lives in Rockville,  Maryland.

Mark Ramsey, CPA, Chief Financial Officer

Mark Ramsey joined the Duffie Companies on June 30, 1986, as part of its accounting team, after a 7 year stint with a regional public accounting firm.  In 1988, he became  the controller of The Duffie Companies and, eventually, its CFO.

Mark has provided  a myriad of services to The Duffie Companies during his 33 year tenure. They include:

  • Overseeing the Accounting function of its host of companies.
  • Overseeing Income Tax and Financial Statement preparation. 
  • Providing Cash Management Services.
  • Financing and refinancing the mortgages of its commercial residential properties.
  • Serving on its board of directors
  • Obtaining  and maintaining  insurance coverage for the companies and their properties.
  • Providing rental leasing services for its commercial retail properties.
  • Providing  and eventually overseeing  its Estate Tax Income Questionnaire preparation and appeals process.
  • Providing services relating to its properties sales
